Mike Walker

I recently retired from a high tech job and am now using my retirement to explore the world of welding.  I took a one day welding class, immediately purchased a welder and have spent every day since in my welding shop.  I started using stainless steel flatware to create 3D sculptures of birds, insects and flowers.   Thrift Stores are my main source of forks, knives and spoons which I chop, grind and weld into realistic and stylized shapes.  I also recycle and re-purpose salvaged metals like re-bar and steel pipe to make  yard art including eight foot tall bottle trees.

I'm currently a member of the High Plains Artist group and have created over 100 pieces of art.  Recently I won second place in the 2016 EcoCreation Seven Show hosted by the Longmont Art Gallery.
